Dear Enfield Resident-
According to many sources, we are expected to receive anywhere from 12-24 inches of snow beginning Saturday afternoon and throughout the night. It is predicted that it will be very windy and temperatures could reach into the negative.
The Highway Superintendent, Buddy Rollins, is confident the Enfield Highway Department is prepared for this storm. Highway staff will be out clearing the roads, which takes approximately three hours to complete. In normal snowfall, these routes often resume about three hours after the last was completed. If snow is too heavy to keep up with, in the interest of safety of Highway staff, they will wait until the snow lets up to resume clearing. Please be patient as they get to each road as conditions allow.
Please check in with your neighbors, especially if you think someone might be compromised during this storm. And note that the Enfield Food Pantry hours this week have changed. The Enfield Food Pantry will be not be open Sunday, but will be open this Saturday, January 19 from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. at the Enfield Community Building at 182 Enfield Main Road, Ithaca.
Some things to consider:
- If you have an emergency call 911.
- Please be mindful of road conditions and avoid unnecessary travel.
- Please observe emergency road closings at all times.
- Report electricity outages and learn of estimated restoration times by calling NYSEG’s emergency line at 1.800.572.1131
- Look up and around- be cautious of downed trees and electric lines. Never approach wires that are lying on the ground.
- If you must drive, be prepared- be sure to have water, a blanket, flashlight, chargers, and no less than half a tank of gas.
- Hi winds cause drifting. Observe changing road conditions and drive slowly.
We hope everyone remains safe and warm during the storm.
