1843 Baptist Church Building
In Honor of the 200th Birthday of the First Baptist Church of Enfield 1817 – 2017, I would like to share a few pictures of the 1842 Church building. I have also added more information to the Baptist church history from the “Enfield New York Christian Hill to Enfield Falls, The Town of. Enfield, NY”. Below is a copy of the section. I will gladly accept comments, changes, additions and all pictures regarding the Baptist Church. I am especially looking for activity pictures of events held at the church, weddings, dinners, etc. (Sue Thompson, Enfield Historian, historian@townofenfield.org)
Since the re-opening of the Baptismal in 1993 – 26 people have been baptized at church services. The Baptismal was originally built in 1887 according to the Baptist
Church Minutes of January 8, 1887. Brothers Robert Whipple and Harrison Lanning were appointed to supervise the building of the Baptistery.
(Dave Owens and Roger Brown are pictures in the Baptistery)
Church Sheds on the east side of the road across from the church.
In 1942, the sheds for protection of horses and carriages which stood across the road and also north of the church were removed.
